Russell Wetanson, the pop culture legal expert, Can Show You The Ups and Downs of celebrity law

Friday, May 29th, 2009

There are a million tv shows, magazines and blogs about celebrities, celebrity gossip, celebrity news, whatever. So at this point I feel it’s important to have an angle; to have something slightly different to say which keeps the subject interesting. Which explains my reason for writing a semi-fan essay about Russell Wetanson, author of “Popsquire” blog and subject matter expert in pop culture law.

1 Russell is trained in law. He has provided representation for well known people like Madonna. As a television personality, he’s spoken with some people you might recognize – such as Beyonce, Kate Hudson, and Matthew McConaughey. All the education, direction and experience come together to make something new. You will find that his viewpoints on entertainment and celebrities will be quite different from the norm. His knowledge of law and specifically entertainment law adds something different; especially when you consider how many legal matters exist in the entertainment industry. This makes for endless, and definitely entertaining, blog fodder, articles and interviews. And as a side note, can you imagine thinking like a lawyer and also like someone in the entertainment industry? I can’t. These two fields are so diametrically opposed, it’s truly amazing to see how Russell synthesizes these two viewpoints into something workable and fun.entertainment legal expert

2 He focuses on the controversial, legal or potentially legal, hollywood news. I really don’t care about who the celebrities are dating or who they are wearing at the Oscars. The thing that interests me is the darker and more controversial topic. Miss California VS Perez Hilton-INTERESTING. Paris Hilton’s testimony in court-INTERESTING. Michael Jackson? Well, let’s just say the fun NEVER ends with that one.entertainment law

3 Lighten Up. magazines or blogs take a really serious approach to the legal goings on among celebrities. And that tends to affect people’s views of the individuals about whom they’re talking. It’s not that serious, though. It is known as the entertainment industry because it is meant to entertain us. And Mister Wetanson remembers this. His tv interviews and articles are always light, comical and entertaining, even if dramatic. Yes it’s news. But it’s fun news. And it’s unserious. And that’s good. I could watch the local news for seriousness.

4 Overall level of awesome. How’s this for a skill set: Law, fluent spanish, broadcast journalism-featured on NBC, Fox News, E, TV Guide network and HLN, MSN, NBC4, Current TV, Si TV and Yahoo Newsprint, print journalism, scuba diving, yoga, voiceover, commercial, blogging, pop culture trivia and white water rafting. How can you not love someone with that combination of skills? You can’t. That’s all there is to it.entertainment legal expert

Russell Wetanson, the celebrity legal expert, Can Show You The Ups and Downs of pop culture law

Friday, May 29th, 2009

There are an abundance of television programs, journals and blogs about movie stars, celebrity rumors, information about stars, etc. So at this point I feel it’s important to have an angle; to have something slightly different to say which keeps the subject interesting. And this is why I wanted to write a sort-of fan article about Russell Wetanson, pop culture law expert and founder of “Popsquire” blog.celebrity legal expert

1 Russell is trained in law. He has represented extremely high profile Hollywood celebrities like Madonna, for example. As a tv host he has interviewed some of the most famous stars you could ever imagine-Beyonce, Kate Hudson, and Matthew McConaughey, to name a few. All the education, direction and experience come together to make something new. You will find that his viewpoints on entertainment and celebrities will be quite different from the norm. There are many different legal issues in the entertainment industry, so his knowledge of entertainment law really adds something special. These things create a lot and certainly entertaining blog articles and interviews. Can you imagine having to have the mindset of not only a lawyer but also an entertainer? I can’t. These two fields are so diametrically opposed, it’s truly amazing to see how Russell synthesizes these two viewpoints into something workable and fun.celebrity law

2 He focuses on the controversial, legal or potentially legal, hollywood news. Actually, I have no interest in their love lives or what people wear to various events. The thing that interests me is the darker and more controversial topic. Miss California VS Perez Hilton-INTERESTING. Paris Hilton’s testimony in court-INTERESTING. And Michael Jackson? The fun NEVER ends with that one.

3 Lighten Up. There are plenty of entertainment news programs, as well as periodicals and weblogs, which treat the legal affairs of celebrities very seriously. And that tends to affect people’s views of the individuals about whom they’re talking. It’s not that serious, though. It is known as the entertainment industry because it is meant to entertain us. And Mister Wetanson remembers this. He is comical and entertaining wherever I see him. Yes it’s news. But it’s fun. And it’s unserious. And it’s good. I could watch the local news for seriousness.

4 General level of awesome. Not possible. Really, there is nothing else to it.celebrity legal expert

Legal: How To Adopt The Infant Of Your Dreams

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

A brief introduction letter often in the form of a checklist of a child’s abilities and personality are sent out to the parents who are trying to give her infant up for adoption. For many years natural birth parents and adoptive parents have entered into written and verbal open adoptions. Although there is no way for the online site to warn you about all the problems you can face during the infant adoption process: however, there are experienced adoption professionals that feel that openness between the birth parents and adoptive parents, is the best way to open the lines of communication. Go to contracts for more information.

An adopted baby may take some characteristics from its adoptive parents, studies have shown that the longer you are around a person the more you tend to act like them and favor them. Children will, by nature, begin taking characteristics of their adopted parents once they have been around them for some time. After trying unsuccessfully for years, many couples decide to look into infant adoption.

Here are a couple of tips to help expectant and prospective adoptive parents navigate the maze of the adoption process: read all information thoroughly and get in touch with people who have been through the process. You will be amazed at what a simple Google search for “successful adoption parents” will yield. You will have plenty of time to figure out exactly what age and what background of the infant you would like most to adopt. Here are some reasons why some individuals choose to adopt: they are unable or incapable of giving birth using their own human processes or they would prefer to adopt versus give birth naturally, so to speak. By the way, working at an adoption agency doesn’t even improve your chances of getting approved to adopt an infant. Refer to legal forms for more information.

Adoption can provide the type of life you want your child to experience if you are unable to give it to them, this is why some birth parents give up their child. Although there is no definitive source of data on the number or types of issues an infant may have, that should not keep anyone from going through the adoption process. A case in point is the minister who adopted a little girl from the State of Michigan. Though she was given a clean bill of health, she suffered from severe asthma. The emergency room and hospital bills were enormous. After making this known the State of Michigan reimbursed the minister for his medical expenses.

You really need to know the health history of the child however brief it may be for an infant. Strive to be more in depth, and create good timing. Some adoptive plans are more risky to prospective adoptive parents. Visit legal documents for further information.

Legal fees can be very high and a costlier option. Fees often have to be paid up front, long before any monetary settlement from the case itself. Using A Real Estate Attorney in For Sale By Owner Transactions

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Even though you are selling your home without an agent, the assistance of a professional is still needed at various steps in the home selling process. The requirement of a real estate attorney depends on the laws in your state. Even if you live in a state where a real estate attorney is not needed, as a for sale by owner seller, it will still be beneficial for you to use one. Go to contracts for more information.

An attorney can serve many purposes in the housing transaction. When you hire an attorney that specialized in real estate, that attorney is responsible for seeing that your best interests are met in the housing transaction. An attorney can act as the escrow agent by holding down payments, documentation, and earnest money deposits. Not only that, the attorney can help you decipher and evaluate complicated offers you might receive from a buyer. In the event that the lenders attorney does not handle the closing, your attorney will host and handle the closing. If the lenders attorney does handle the closing, then your real attorney will represent you in the process.

Your primary concern should be to find a real estate attorney that will provide you with assistance you need in the housing transaction. You can use a local or internet directory to find the names of some attorneys in your area. Asking friends or family who have recently sold homes for references is another way that you can find an attorney to assist you. If there are neighbors with for sale signs in their yards, you can casually inquire about the attorney they are using. Hiring an attorney that comes as a reference is often better than cold calling attorneys. Refer to legal forms for more information.

As you look for an attorney to hire, you should choose one that works primarily with real estate transactions. Avoid choosing a criminal or family law attorney that handles real estate transactions on the side. Your interests will not be best served by an attorney that does not spend a significant part of his or her time in real estate transactions. Certainly do not hire an attorney that has never worked in real estate.

Along with experience in real estate transactions, price will be the other factor you use to choose a real estate attorney. The attorney you hire will have two major responsibilities: reading and advising you on documents and representing you at closing. Get a price quote from prospective attorneys on those two tasks. You can get a discount from the attorney by letting him or her know that you will be preparing and filling out some of the documentation. Shop around among several attorneys to get a feel for experience level and price charged.

The most important thing is that you have a real estate professional available to assist you through the transaction. Even if you have successfully sold a for sale by owner home before, it is better to have legal assistance than to attempt to complete the process on your own.

The Only Thing Constant Is Change – Legal Name Change

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Who said that? We did. Someone else said it first, but that’s not important. What is important is your recognition that change is an integral part of life and if you don’t incorporate it into your business, sooner or later you will be left behind. Go to legal name change for more information.

Now for those conservative minded readers who still wear bow ties and Brooks Brothers suits, we will gladly acknowledge that exceptions abound. Unfortunately, however, most of us do not have the luxury of waiting to see if the public will stick with our products. He who waits and makes a mistake gets left behind. Don’t believe me? Ask IBM, Sears, or the entire U.S. automobile industry. Change left them all in the dust.

To compound matters, change is rapidly becoming a trend force. By this expression, I mean that change is becoming an expected mode of operation for your customers. Want some examples? Ok, let’s take the fast food industry. Does the name itself tell you anything? Think about the successful ones, Burger King, Wendy’s. What do they have going that their copy-cat failure competition can’t latch on to? Change. Almost every week the big three have something new going on. You will see new products, new offers, new games. McDonald’s is totally changing the interior of every store in Europe to change its face overseas and create a more upscale environment. In addition, kid’s meal offerings change constantly along with local endorsements and sponsorships.

You have only to listen to the quote of Ray Kroc, the McDonald’s founder, in order to know their position. We can invent it faster than others can copy it.

Change is certainly not limited to fast foods either. I think one of the best examples of change can be seen at Apple. Now that Steve Jobs is back he is cranking out one winning product after another. He embraces change and makes it a part of the corporate culture. Refer to name change for more information.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN TO YOU?

It means that you should adopt change as part of your business. Not as an accident which happens, but actually part of your ongoing operation. Use change to let your customers know that you are a viable company constantly aware of the latest trends. How do you do it? Let’s look at some ideas.

1. New product or service. Borrowing from the fast-food industry, always be on the look out for anything new which can be added to your product line or service offering. Now note, and this is important, don’t worry whether or not this product will make money by itself. Sometimes you will do things simply to draw attention to your entire line of products and your business in general.

2. Be on the look out for a different way to serve your customer. Home delivery is an example. More and more companies are turning to this strategy and shopping online is so successful because the products come to you. No traffic and less stress. Can you think of another way?

3. Center promotions on holidays, local news events and fads. These events don’t have to relate to your product except that you tie it in that way. The more you can use these events, the more your company and product seem current.

Change is a powerful business force. It can wipe you out or it can make you an overnight success. This coming year, put the word change on every day of your calendar. Constantly be on the look out for the next promotion. If you do this, you will energize yourself, your employees, and most importantly, your customers.

Business Rule: Incorporate change as a part of your business philosophy, but don’t change what works. Visit name change for further information.

Creating Child Custody Agreements: Having the Right Mental Attitude

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Creating a child visitation agreement can seem overwhelming. Not only do you have to wade through all of the information, legal terms, and calendar issues, but you have to do it while still handling all of the issues from the divorce. It can seem like an impossible task. But, as easy as it is to get discouraged, it’s important to have the right mental attitude while creating your child custody agreement. Go to Child Welfare Legal advice for more information.

It’s vital to begin and maintain a good mental attitude during the entire process of developing your child visitation agreement because if you’re on the ball mentally, you’ll be able to create a better child custody agreement. And, you want to create the best agreement that you can because this will affect you and your child for a long time.

The first way to boost your attitude is to be positive. You can create your perfect child custody agreement–you really can! Approach the entire process with a can-do attitude and you’ll discover that you’re very capable of handling all of this. When problems arise, don’t get down, instead just work your hardest to fix them.

It really is amazing what a positive attitude can do. It will influence your children–because they’ll see that you are positive about the agreement so they will be too. If you have the attitude of working out problems it will go better with your ex too. Regardless of your relationship with your ex, focus on finding the right agreement for your child. This positive attitude will help you get through the discouraging times. Refer to Child Welfare Legal advice for more information.

It isn’t enough to just be positive though–you need to do your research. Invest your time and energy into your child custody agreement. Come up with a plan. Look up as much information as possible. Acquaint yourself with the child custody laws and become familiar with different ways to come up with child visitation plans.

Even if you have a lawyer you need to do your homework. Ask your lawyer questions and be involved in the proceedings. You may want to look into purchasing some child custody software. There are programs out there that allow you to create your own agreement and even take it to court. Create your child custody plan and show it to your lawyer (or just take it to court yourself). This will enable you to get the custody schedule that you want.

As you’re creating your child custody agreement, feel free to be creative. Look for your own solutions and don’t feel like there is a one and only way to do things. Figure out an agreement that works for you–even if it feels non-traditional. A custody software program may help you with this too. Just because most people have their custody agreement set up a certain way doesn’t mean that you have to do it that way. Don’t be afraid to play around with different schedules until you find the right fit for you.

There are a lot of things to consider when creating a child custody agreement. Begin the process right by having a good mental attitude about the entire process. It can be an exciting adventure–to figure out the perfect schedule for you and your child. And, remember, the end reward for going through the child custody agreement process is spending time with your child. Thinking about that makes the whole thing worth it. Visit Child Welfare Legal advice for further information.
